ALT LED Lighting Products Receive Japan PSE Certification 2012-12-01
ALT’s globally popular LED lighting product, the MR16, which is sold in nearly 100 countries, has achieved another milestone. Following its recognition with Japan's Good Design Award in October, the MR16 has become one of the first to pass Japan's Product Safety of Electrical Appliances and Materials (PSE) certification under the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (DENAE) in November.
Expansion of PSE-Certified Product Line
James Liang, CEO of ALT, announced that by December, the company plans to achieve PSE certification for additional product lines, including the IP68-rated waterproof and dustproof PAR30 recessed lights and high-performance streetlights, to meet diverse market needs. PSE certification is a mandatory safety standard for electrical appliances in Japan. According to an official announcement by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), LED bulbs and LED lighting fixtures sold in Japan must bear the circular PSE mark starting from July 1 of this year, indicating compliance with the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law.
PSE certification encompasses both EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and safety requirements. Products falling under the law must be tested and certified by METI-authorized third-party certification bodies before entering the Japanese market.
